_WHAT BURNS NEVER RETURNS
WBNR is a multidisciplinary project. It explores the concept of Zero by considering the mediated relationship between the body and the urban environment. Started in 2007 in Hong Kong, Alessandro Carboni concentrates his research on the process of urban transformation, high-speed urbanization and the most disarticulated forms of urban density. After this first residence experience, the choreographer evolved the project to the next level through creating research platforms in eight different cities from Europe to Asia. A wide range of contributors have enriched Carboni’s artistic and technical competencies, with such figures as urban researchers, media artist/theorists and software programmers. Beyond doubt, the project is both a meaningful performance production and theoretical contribution. There are three interrelated focal points in the research of WBNR, which are developed through a creative dialogue between the associated practices: choreography, urban geography-visual art and communication technologies- intertwined with an emergent disciplinary field dealing with the human body, the city and the generative code. |
